We are looking for a Maintenance Mechanic to work with our Maintenance Department to help us continue in our mission to serve our community with Kindness, Passion, Courage, and Teamwork Reporting to the Manager, Facilities, the Maintenance
Mechanic 1 is responsible for the safe and efficient operation and maintenance
of the boilers, compressors, diesel generation, pumps, and all related equipment at Headwaters Healthcare Centre,
to ensure a reliable supply of utilities to the hospital. The Maintenance
Mechanic takes a team approach to ensure there is a safe environment for
patients, staff, and visitors. Responsibilities: - Maintains, troubleshoots, and repairs various types of equipment located throughout the hospital including, but not limited to boilers, compressors, diesel generation, pumps, cooling towers and all hospital equipment.
- Carries out and supplies comprehensive reports on major repairs and/or renovations.
- Keeps the Manager informed of general conditions of all hospital buildings, grounds, and equipment; recommends changes or alterations and advises on maintenance and repair of all hospital building, grounds, and equipment.
- Maintains records on operation, maintenance, and repair of all equipment.
- Ability to work to standards set by applicable National, Provincial, and local codes.
- Trouble shoots and supports parking equipment issues as they arise.
- Understands and supports the hospital Fire Safety Plan.
- Working knowledge hazard identification, labels, safety data sheets (WHMIS)WHMIS.
- Consults with contractors and provides regular updates to the Manager accordingly keeping risk and cost in mind (e.g. supply estimates)
- Participates in patient safety initiatives and takes action to address unsafe conditions and procedures to ensure a healthy and safe environment.
- Works in compliance with the provisions of the Occupational Health and Safety Act of Ontario and the regulations
- Provides on-call service for after hours site issues as they arise.
- Implements new procedures and controls deemed necessary by management.
- Performs other duties as required
Qualifications: - Successful completion of secondary school diploma.
- Minimum five (5) years’ experience in a facilities department preferably in a hospital setting
- Knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act
- Knowledge of Energy Conservation Initiatives
- Experience in millwrighting, pipefitting, electrical and/or other trades is preferred.
- Experience in HVAC is preferred.
- Computer skills, including Windows based systems.
- Ability to process CMMS based work orders and maintenance reports.
- Good working knowledge Building Automation Systems and Controls
- Excellent knowledge of mechanical, plumbing, and electrical maintenance.
- Good knowledge of water treatment and chemical testing.
