We are looking for a PTA/OTA to work with our Allied Health Department to help us continue in our mission to serve our community with Kindness, Accountability, Respect, and Teamwork

Position Responsibilities:

The PT/OT Assistant provides patient care for inpatients under the supervision of the Occupational Therapist or Physiotherapist.

 Duties:
 

 

  • Supervises patients in regular activity programs that have been established by the Physiotherapist or Occupational Therapist, reporting any changes to the supervising therapist.
  • Follows a Patient-Centered approach to care
  • Communicates with patients, families and other team members as appropriate in order to ensure the best patient care
  • Participates in annual development of Quality Indicators for Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy practice, monitoring indicators and changing practice as required to maintain quality.
  • Participates in regular professional development opportunities (i.e. conferences, networking, regional planning) to maintain competency.
  • Helps keeps track of occupational therapy equipment on loan within the organization
  • Assists with maintenance and sanitation of equipment (including but not limited to assistive devices within the physiotherapy or occupational therapy portfolio)
  • Familiar with and acts in accordance with corporation and department policies and procedures.
  • Other duties as delegated by supervising therapist within OTA/PTA scope of practice
  • Prioritizes patient safety in the completion of all tasks.
  • Participates in patient safety initiatives and takes action to address unsafe conditions and procedures to ensure a healthy and safe environment.
  • Promotes an environment that encourages and supports change using change management theory
  • All employees of Headwaters Health Care Centre (HHCC) are responsible to contribute to a transparent culture of patient and staff safety by adhering to and abiding by patient and staff safety policies and procedures set by HHCC.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

 

 
 

Qualifications:

  • College Diploma in Physiotherapy Assistant Program. Preference will be given to candidates with combined Occupational and Physiotherapy Assistant qualifications
  • General inpatient treatment experience
  • Recent experience in a Rehabilitation or Complex Continuing Care (preferred)
  • Knowledge of Gentle Persuasive Approach (preferred)
  • Advanced computer skills (preferred)
  • Excellent interpersonal and communications skills
  • Must be a strong team player
 

Hiring Salary: $35.19-$39.50
